First and Online Collection on Turkish Women Architects on MIT-Archnet

In 2014-2016, I created and developed the first and online project on the documentation of the leading figures of the first (1930s-1960s) and the second (the 1960s-present) generation of Turkish women architects; and the first Archnet-MIT collection on women in architecture under a particular country from the modern Middle East while conducting my advanced academic research project at the MIT-HTC program.

For this project, I conducted a systematic and in-depth scholarly and architectural research based on first-hand information, wrote most of those women architect's biographies based on my close readings on Ph.D. dissertation and master theses in this field, chronological lists of projects and buildings designed by these women architects, lists of publications on/by them, selected scholarly and architectural bibliographies. In addition, all copyright permissions were obtained by me with respect to Archnet's official principles and policies. This comprehensive collection includes a systematic studies on pioneering women architects from the first and second generation, comprehensive literature reviews on international and national scholarly and architectural studies on Turkish women architects, recent surveys by the Chambers of Architects of Turkey, etc.; and all texts and visual materials were submitted by e-mail to MIT-Archnet before the final of my advanced academic research project at MIT. It is 320 pages; and uploading all materials is in-progress as they express in their official internet page.
