Following my advanced academic research project at
the MIT-HTC program that took “two years”, this Turkish interview with me began
with Zehra Betul Atasoy from Arkitera (www.arkitera.com) and my aim was to share my essential
findings on “Turkish and Turkish American women architects in the US
architecture” and its significance on global (critical) architecture history, postwar
Turkish architecture history and feminist history/historiography in
architecture. Although I shared this aim before the interview, most of her
interview questions were too far from this specific research subject and
indicated other issues on women architects, such as Denise Scott Brown,
Architect Barbie project, etc. When I sent my detailed answers on my scholarly
studies, findings and academic presentations on this research subject (Turkish
and Turkish American women architects in postwar US), she/they removed most
information in the interview. When I decided to cancel this Turkish interview,
they “immediately” accepted to cancel this interview with my detailed answers on my findings that I explored during my research project at the MIT-HTC. After this process, I learned by chance that
Zehra Betul Atasoy is a Ph.D. candidate “in
the US” and her research explores “the everyday practices of urban “women” from various social strate in
Istanbul “between 1930 and 1960”. (Please
see, https://njit.academia.edu/ZehraBetulAtasoy,
accessed on 3.31.2018).
