#tbt “Black” Letter_ My Graduation Project_ Award Candidate at the 5th National Architectural Awards in Turkey (1996)

Designed as a sport complex in Istanbul, its creative concept was based on “destruction of box” as a protest to all conventional establishments in (Turkish) architecture. In the project, non-linear (architectural) composition of each stairway” was superimposed with “composition between guitars, drumm and vocal of “Stairway to Heaven” (quiet introduction, gradually moving into a slow section, tension, hard rock final section). My (feminist) architectural roots with my full commitment to "equity, inclusion and diversity" (in architecture & society) come from my close readings on deconstruction in architecture and philosophy. [ Black Letter refers to a letter to Jacques Derrida as a protest to all oppressive power mechanisms and actors in architecture. "Red" symbolizes La Folie by Bernard Tschumi. ].
