I am so thrilled to begin to serve as “the
Boston Representative of Architecture and Urbanism Research Academy Istanbul (AURA
Istanbul)...
Established by a group of architecture design practitioners,
professors and professionals from various disciplines with its Advisory Board (http://aura-istanbul.com/index.php/about/management)
and “Friends of AURA” (http://aura-istanbul.com/index.php/friendsofaura),
here is its introduction: “Istanbul Architecture and Urbanism Research Academy,
is aware of the complex global problems creating stress over cities worldwide
and especially over Istanbul. To understand and alleviate these problems,
AURA-Istanbul believes different disciplines need to work together. To ensure
this much-needed cooperation, AURA-Istanbul Academy was established as a
non-profit organization to operate on a global scale. One of its major goals is
to prepare graduates of related fields for their academic and professional careers
through its certification program. The other objective is to contribute to a
future Istanbul database through research and design projects created at the
Academy.”
In this “unprecedented time”, I wish we “explore new findings and
resolutions” for contemporary issues in my beloved city in between West and
East by connecting outstanding community of AURA and innovative scientific
minds in/around Boston, “Hub of the Universe”: Istanbul is one of the most unique,
inspiring and diverse architecture and urban “lab”s in the global world along
with its multicultural, multihistorical layers and terrific, dynamic
architecture community. Boston is where I have opened my eyes to “science”,
architectural and scholarly excellence to push my all limits. I could not
imagine any right and better time to connect these two remarkable worlds in
order to a. challenge contemporary issues in architecture and urban systems,
and b. to explore new modes of learning, education, teaching, scholarship
practice (in architecture and urban design/planning) in 2021 and beyond.
Here is AURA’s brilliant representatives around the world, and looking forward to connecting with them as well for fresh discussions and creative resolutions in architecture, urban design and planning in order to contribute to heal our disciplines, no matter where we are in the global world.
