A Perspective from the US on Architecture Education during
COVID-19:
As we have been going through a global pandemic crisis, in architecture, current problems and struggles in education deserve a particular attention due to its vital importance, mission and responsibility to teach young generation as future architects. Although each country and their architecture community have been experiencing different challenges, some common topics are needed to be examined for a sustainable architecture (design) education for everyone, such as a. how an architecture education community that includes different generations with their own specific goals (such as students, professors, researchers, and staffs within learning, teaching, research, administration and functional operations settings, etc.) can overcome physical, psychological, mental and social issues in a healthy way; b. continuity of architectural and social communication among each groups and communities in architecture education, c. pedagogy in architecture (design) education during and after Covid-19 pandemic; d. contents of architecture (design) education and architecture curriculum, e. situations and circumstances in this Fall academic term, etc.
In this respect, this essay focuses on some leading organizations, schools and programs in the US architecture through their recent discussions on teaching and learning practice in architecture (design) education with their concerns on existing pedagogical approaches and methods, etc.
