While we are getting closer to the end of 2021, I am so honored to be an official part of the process of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture this year. With my deep respect the confidentiality of the process, all I can say: I wish everyone in this program all success, and am grateful to the award program for its outstanding contribution and support for "pluralist", inclusive and diverse understanding in architecture & its culture, etc. that we strongly need today. I was so fortunate to begin my Ph.D. dissertation research studies at the Harvard University, Aga Khan, History of Art and Architecture, Ph.D. Program as a special Turkish fellow. This experience had made me to comprehend inspiring (academic, cultural, educational, etc.) programs supported by Aga Khan, and their enormous contributions for the advancement of architecture, architecture history and scholarship through the lens of diversity, inclusion and equity.
Speech made by His Highness the Aga Khan at the 10th Annual LaFontaine-Baldwin Lecture in Toronto, Canada on 15 October 2010.
