With our new inspiring members, the first meeting of the Research Committee of “Historic Interiors Affiliate Group" at SAH!

Thanks each member for their brilliant thoughts, comments, suggestions during our first online meeting on 2/7! Looking forward to our collaborative progress with our new projects! Established in 2020, HIG (Historic Interiors Affiliate Group at the Society of Architectural Historians) is dedicated to the study of historic interiors. Its mission is to gather people together to foster scholarly inquiry on the history of the interior within and beyond the SAH, supporting teachers, researchers, archivists, librarians, publishers, and practitioners. Mission of the HIG Research Committee is to offer rich, diverse, and inclusive research sources and opportunities on historic interior as an interdisciplinary endeavor encompassing interior design, museology, furnishings, decorative arts, technology, material culture, anthropology, and gender studies through a global perspective. Current goals of the HIG Research Committee are to survey, support, and promote current research related to the history of interiors and to develop a public resource documenting relevant archival and research collections in the field.
