I am deeply honored to receive a kind response by Professor Claudine Gay, the Harvard University's new and the first African-American woman president! She is so humble and human-centered!

On August 17th, 2023, it was a milestone for my  scholarly communication with the following response to my e-mail to the Harvard University President Office:

" from: Claudine Gay <president@harvard.edu>
to: Meral Ekincioglu
date: Aug 17, 2023, 3:10 PM

Dear Meral,

Thank you for your warm wishes. It means a lot to know I have your support as I take on my new role. My thanks, too, for sharing a bit about yourself...(her sentences for me).....

I wish you all the best with your endeavors.

Sincerely,
Claudine

Claudine Gay
President
Harvard University"

A few weeks ago, I had sent my e-mail to Professor Claudine Gay as the Harvard University new President, and was expecting a response by her assistant. Instead of this, I received her response as the (new) Harvard President! She is very humble and human-centered! I think that it is also a significant sign that "Ivory Tower" has been left in the past and "equity" is going to be more focal point at the university. Professor Drew Faust, former and the first woman president of Harvard University has also been very sensitive to equity, inclusion and diversity with her messages and attitudes. No doubt, Professor Claudine Gay is a new and historic chapter in academic leadership at the U.S. higher education, as the first African-American (woman) president! More than huge congrats! I wish her and the Harvard's community all success and looking forward to their great and inspiring news and projects for (more) equal, inclusive and diverse academia and society!

Equity for all!
