Founded at Harvard University in 1940, the goal of the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) is to support and promote new studies on the history of the built environment and its role in shaping contemporary life. With its focus on architecture, design, urbanism, landscape worldwide, this non-profit organization serves as an international network of institutions and individuals.
“Historic Interiors Affiliate Group of the Society of Architectural Historians” (HIG-SAH) was established in 2020 and I am very pleased to be invited by its Founding President to serve on its Research Committee since its establishment. With a diverse, inclusive and global perspective, we have been conducting our projects and organizing scholarly events to raise a critical awareness of historic interiors with our strong emphasis contemporary challenges in interior design discipline and its profession, with a multidisciplinary mindset. From climate emergency to public health, gender, privacy/public, furniture design, material culture, museums, archives & collections, our mission is to extend the existing limits in the field and bring challenging problems into focus with recent scholarly research studies and discussions for diverse teaching, research and learning communities within and beyond the field. Research Committee members’ diverse background and profile reflect a global vision.
