Our April meeting as the Research Committee of the Historic Interiors Affiliate Group-Society of Architectural Historians
In our April 2024 meeting, Marta Silveira Peixoto, Ph.D. and full professor from the School of Architecture at UFRGS (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul), Brazil has presented her research studies on historic interiors.
Founded at Harvard University in 1940, the goal of the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) is to support and promote new studies on the history of the built environment and its role in shaping contemporary life. With its focus on architecture, design, urbanism, landscape worldwide, this non-profit organization serves as an international network of institutions and individuals.
“Historic Interiors Affiliate Group of the Society of Architectural Historians” (HIG-SAH) was established in 2020. With a diverse, inclusive and global perspective, we have been conducting our projects and organizing scholarly events to raise a critical awareness of historic interiors with our strong emphasis contemporary challenges in interior design discipline and its profession, with a multidisciplinary mindset. From climate emergency to public health, gender, privacy/public, furniture design, material culture, museums, archives & collections, our mission is to extend the existing limits in the field and bring challenging problems into focus with recent scholarly research studies and discussions for diverse teaching, research and learning communities within and beyond the field. Diverse background and profile of our Research Committee members at the Historic Interiors Affiliate Group-Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) reflect a global vision.
