Modernist Women Interior Designers and Artists

Editors Ana Tostões and Zara Ferreira have presented its central theme, which focuses on the significant contributions of women architects and designers in shaping the aesthetics, philosophies, and material culture of modernism. They have also explored how these women’s work not only reflected the social and political dynamics of their era but also broadened the horizons of modern design. Furthermore, they have highlighted how these women challenged conventions and introduced innovative perspectives on space, form, and function.
The introduction has been followed by two talks by HIG Research Committee members, Marta Peixoto and Eva Storgaard, bringing forward their contributions to the book.
